The Law Society had partial success in opposing the recently introduced new regulations for contingency fees in Employment Tribunals. Contingency Fees were to have been capped at 25% exclusive of VAT. The Law Society lobbying against such a cap succeeded in raising the cap to 35% including Vat equivalent to 29.8% exclusive. The Solicitors/Client Agreement will not be enforceable if the Regulations have not been complied with. Currently the proposals are still proposals.
